Selling online
TikTok Shop product videos that show your product and get the tap
On TikTok Shop, the video is the storefront. A shopper sees your product in the feed, taps the link, and buys without leaving the app. That makes TikTok Shop product videos the most important thing your shop posts, and also the thing most small sellers struggle to make often enough.
This guide covers what a good shoppable video looks like, ideas with hook lines, the content rules TikTok Shop publishes for sellers, and how to get videos made at a flat price.
What makes a TikTok Shop product video work
A shoppable video has a simple job: stop the scroll, show the product clearly, and make the tap feel easy. The good ones share a few things.
- A hook in the first two seconds. A sound, a question or a satisfying moment.
- The real product, on screen. In your hands, on the counter, in use.
- One reason to want it. Not ten features. One.
- Vertical and captioned. TikTok recommends 9:16 for in-feed video ads, at least 540x960 (TikTok video ad specs). Captions help people who watch muted.
- A clear nudge. “Tap the link to grab yours” beats a vague sign-off.
When you post, TikTok Shop lets you add a link to a single product, your shop, a category or a collection (TikTok Shop: How to Link Products to Videos).

TikTok Shop content rules to know before you post
TikTok Shop publishes content policies for sellers, and shoppable videos that break them can be flagged or limited. A few points from its seller guidance on avoiding misleading content (TikTok Shop: How to Avoid Misleading Content):
- The product in the video should match the listing. Size, quantity, pattern and logo should be what the buyer receives.
- Details should match the product page. Specs, origin and price in the video should line up with the listing, and promoted prices shouldn't be lower than what customers actually pay.
- No claims the product can't back up. Don't say it contains or does things the packaging and listing don't support.
- Show the real thing. The guidance warns against product displays that are fabricated or swapped out in a way that misleads, including from AI video generators.
Policies change, so check the current TikTok Shop Content Policy in Seller Center before you post. For any ad, the FTC's advertising guidance is a good baseline: claims must be truthful and backed up.
Why your own phone clips are the best starting point
Those rules point to one simple habit: film your real product. That's exactly how a Product showcase works. You record up to five short clips or take photos on your phone, and they become a finished 15 to 30-second video with voiceover, on-screen text, music, captions, an end card with your offer and post text.
A few filming tips:
- Shoot vertically, in daylight near a window.
- Get one wide shot, one close-up and one “in use” shot.
- Keep each clip a few seconds long and steady.
- Use the exact product, color and pack size you list in your shop.
A note on presenters: in a Spokesperson ad, the presenter speaks for your brand. They never pose as a real buyer, don't physically hold or use your product, and videos with realistic people are labeled as dramatizations. For TikTok Shop, where the product needs to be on screen, a Product showcase built from your own clips is usually the better fit.
Posting often without burning out
Shops that keep posting give the feed more chances to show them. The hard part is making new videos every week while you also pack orders and answer messages.
- Batch it. Film clips for three or four products in one afternoon.
- Get two openings. An extra opening version is $49, so you can see which hook pulls more taps.
- Reuse everywhere. The same vertical file works on Instagram Reels, Facebook and YouTube Shorts. Our social video ad specs guide lists the sizes.
DIY TikTok Shop videos vs one flat price
Doing it all yourself usually means a video generator app, a voice app, an editing app, a stock music library and a caption app. Published plans for each kind of tool commonly run from about $6 to $40 a month. One example stack of five monthly plans we priced in October 2026 came to about $116 a month, or about $1,392 a year, before extra credits. Our guide to the real cost of DIY video ad tools breaks it down.
With a flat price, there's no meter and no learning curve. Upload your clips and logo, type a few lines, and get a ready-to-post vertical video in 3 business days, with one revision. Post it on TikTok Shop and any other channel for as long as you like. We can't promise views or sales, but you'll have a clean, honest video ready to post.
